MANCHESTER - 2016

SIBERIAN HUSKY

I would like to thank the Manchester committee for the opportunity to award my first set of CC's and for their wonderful hospitality. Thank you to the exhibitors for the honour of allowing me to judge your lovely dogs, I was really spoilt for choice.
MPD (1) 1 Fraser & Greenland's Rajarani Raphael. A lovely typical head with cheeky expression, good angles and leg length. Nice level topline held on the move, good tail set and carriage. Just a bit loose but expected at this age. BPIB.
PD (1) 1 Fraser & Greenland's Rajarani Raphael.
JD (2) 1 Keen's Nashanessen's Prospect. Head ok, but would like a better earset, good angulation both front and rear, well laid back shoulder and very good height to length ratio. Correct level toplineheld well on the move. Tail set and carriage correct, good reach and drive on the move. 2 Keen's Nashanessen's Brockton. Litter brother to winner and very similar commentsm although carries a better head, just preferred the movement of first.
PGD (8) 1 Redwood's Rigrunner Jubilee Flotilla. Very good angles front and rear, nice laid back shoulder, nice typey head, good almond shaped eyes obliquely set. Good level topline, sloping croup, correct tail set and carriage. Took a bit of time to settle but excellent reach and drive when he did, well muscled. 2 Porritt's Skimarque Winter Frost At Blizzardrun. Not as together as first and out of coat, so looked on the thinner end of the standard. Presented a nice headpiece and sweet expression. Angulation ok and showed good steady movement, just not quite the drive of first. Still a youngster, so some maturing to do. 3 Beirne's Penkhalas Kansa Kid.
LD (2) 1 Keen's Nashanessen's Stanley. This boy has great angulationfront and rear, good laid back shoulder giving him reach and drive desired for this breed. Nice traditional, masculine head. Good croup. Lovely flowing and easy movement. Good muscletone. 2 Davis & Rees' Amical Morticon JW ShCM. Such a handsome dog, presented to perfection. Gorgeous head, nice almond eyes, obliquely set, great ear size and set. Very good height to length ratio, topline level, held on the move. Lost out to first on movement.
OD (5) 1 Davis' Zillverani Gypsy Triad ShCM. Wonderfully handsome headpiece and such lovely expression. Great eyes and ears. Nice laid back shoulders and balanced angles front and rear. Good level topline held on the move. Tailset and carriage good. Looked and moved better than I have seen him before and was a serious contender for the big cards but just didn't match them in muscletone and drive. 2 Redwood's Ch Rigrunner Slider. Another handsome dog that is so typical of the breed, good angles throughout. In full coat, so appeared heavier than he is. Well muscled and moved with ease. 3 Marvin's Ch Northtrail Son Of Anarchy JW.
VD (6, 2) 1 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Togiak. This boy really impressed me today with his showmanship. Typical in head for a mature male, eyes and ears correct shape, size and set. Lovely soft expression. Good arch of neck leading into well laid shoulders. So well balanced front and rear with a strong level topline which was held throughout. Great muscle tone, pasterns and feet. Moved so well, efficient and at effortless. DCC. 2 Sutherland's Icynights Uigeadail. Another fantastic dog that has improved with age, up on size but height to length ratios correct and so well balanced throughout. Nice head, good angles front and rear, level topline good tailset and carriage, moved with reach and drive, RDCC. 3 Beirne's Penkhalas Nashobah.
MPB (3) 1 McInnes' Hushwing Happy Feet At Inneska. A sweet and naughty puppy, very pretty head and good overall shape and balance. Nice angles front and rear, good tail set and carriage. Moved well for a youngster when she settled, will enjoy watching her mature. BPB. 2 Spruce's Mysticwolf Maicoh. Another nice youngster with a nice shape, a bit narrow in the front at the moment, nice steady movement. 3 Dixon & Watson's Aurora Blizzardrun's Ebony Star.
PB (2) 1 McInnes' Hushwing Happy Feet At Inneska. As above. 2 Spruce's Mysticwolf Maicoh. As above.
JB (1) 1 Crowther's Kobuk Snow Fall. A heavier girl that could benefit from losing a bit of weight. I would prefer a more feminine head for my taste. Angulation ok and moved ok. Handled and presented very well.
PGB (5, 1) 1 Winter & Unwin's Snowtrekka Bewitched JW. Typey bitch, although head could be prettier. Ears correct size just a tad wide set. Eyes good, almond shape and set obliquely, very good angles, correct sloping croup, tail set and carriage correct, good muscle. Outmoved everything in the class with great reach and drive. 2 Smith's Amical Kapri. Pretty bitch and another with good angles. Level topline, held on the move, presented a lovely outline on the stand. Lost out on movement to first. 3 Norman's Skimarque Snofall Lacie.
LB (7, 1) 1 Shaw's Norste's Sommerset Aurora. An outstanding bitch and one I have watched mature over the last couple of years. She oozes breed type, beautifully feminine head and a lovely expression. A very well balanced bitch with excellent angles and laid back shoulder. Very good height to length ration, level topline held at all times. Good sloped croup, tail set and carriage correct. Moved with reach and drive and so effortlessly. Handled and presented so well. Very pleased to award her the BCC, her third and BOB. 2 Smith's Amical Snow White. Another quality bitch that shows herself so well. Very pretty head and lovely outline. Good anulation and moved well. Tail set and carriage correct. 3 Jones & Mihulka's Icynights Too Hot To Handle JW.
OB (6, 1) 1 Robinson & Platt's Rigrunner Jubilee Flypast JW. Pretty head, good eyes and ears for shape, size and set. Very good angulation front and rear and very balanced, nice arch of neck leading to good shoulders. An understated bitch that you don't appreciate until she moves, light fluid movement with reach and drive. RBCC. 2 Bowering & Evans' Penkhala's Kyra. Slightly smaller girl but very balanced. Lovely head and expression, nice arch of neck into good shoulders. Topline just sloping away a bit. Tail set and carriage correct and another good mover. 3 Norman's Skimarque Silver Sno Star.
VB (5, 1) 1 Robinson's Ch Nashanessen Patricia Among Rigrunner. Another top drawer bitch from this kennel. Beatiful head, lovely shaped eyes correctly set. Ears correct shape, size and set. Well laid shoulders, good level topline held on the stand and move. Good reach and drive, very good muscletone. 2 McInnes' Ch Inneska Tavda. Very pretty bitch, good eyes and ears, set, shape and size all correct. Angles very good front and rear, moved effortlessly. 3 Jones & Mihulka's Ch Icynights Morning Mist ShCM.

SKC - MAY - 2016

SIBERIAN HUSKY

Thank you all so much for this delightful quality entry, marred only by the absence of the minor puppy bitches due, I understand, to delays with their import transfer registrations. Because this entry was of such quality, my critique may seem harsh as I was delving into the finer points of the breed to split them.
PD (4) These young boys correctly had legs greater in length than depth of body, were slightly longer in body than height at withers, and on the move all somewhat loose as to be expected. All four were similar in type and should mature well. 1 McCarroll & Logan's Alepenkye Lucky Charms. Reduced b/w. Shoulder blade, upper arm, pelvis and femur bony markers all equal in length and adequate in angulation. Pleasing head with muzzle length equalling skull length, nice high ear set, almond eyes set a little obliquely, and clean lips. Croup decent length and slope and therefore correct tail set. Moderate slope to pasterns into good feet. 2 Houston's Rajarani Dominique. Very reduced b/w. Comments as above except less mature looking. Very attractive head. 3 Houston's Rajarani Nikolai.
JD (3) These three boys all had good leg length and well set tails, and again were similar in type and body proportions. 1 Fraser & Greenland's Rajarani Raphael. B/w, was reserve in previous class, showing how even that class was. Won this class on his sounder gait, allowing for age, and his more correct head planes, top of skull being parallel to top of muzzle. The other two were "dish faced" and a tad too round in the eye. His ribcage and loin length are good. 2 Anderson's Shamsky Ee'lahn Oldany At Uriakin. Broken coloured b/w, piebald. As mentioned above plus movement erratic. However, he and third, his litter brother, have a lot of maturing to do so are a work in progress. This one has better shoulder blade placement at the withers than third and this showed in his superior gait. 3 Fitzpatrick & Lawrence's Shamsky Ee'Lahn Arran Of Alascotia.
YD (1) 1 Rodgers' Jedisibes Dark Expresso. Reduced b/w. Compact in type, quite a big boy who is too heavy in the head, lacking the foxy chiselling. Good earset and lovely character. Plenty of heart and lung room and a strong loin. He has nicely shaped feet with arched toes. Croup too short and a bit flat.
PGD (2, 1) 1 Porritt's Skimarque Winter Frost At Blizzardrun. G/w. A nice foxy head with tight lips and alert expression. Moderate length of neck blending into shoulder that is well angled and a good length of upper arm. Adequate ribcage and a nice waist, well sloping croup hence good tail set. Sound gait from all views.
LD (5, 1) 1 Anderson's Glenbranter Summat Hot For Uriakin. B/w. Mature, tidy looking dog. Height to body length and leg length proportions ok. A neat, pleasant head, earset ok, eye shape ok. Good chest and a firm loin, good length and slope of croup. Tail set and carriage ok, moderately sloping pasterns and good feet. Shoulder and rear angulations good. Won this class on his economical sound gait. 2 Wynne's Glenbranter Summat Special At Mydisa JW ShCM. G/w. Similar to first, but a bit heavier and only just ok for leg length. Gait sounder than third and reserve. 3 Unwin & Winter's Nashanessen's Dirty Harry At Snowtrekka JW ShCM.
OD (6, 1) Excellent class. 1 Leich & Koops'
Forstal's Solo. BD, CC and BOB. B/w. One I have judged as a youngster and was sorely tempted to award a top honour back then. Just a nice moderate dog with good height to length ratios, sufficient leg length and well angulated. Best upper arm angled back to elbow. Pleasant wedge shaped head, alert expression. Croup of sufficient length and slope to correct tail set. Moderate bone. Gait sound and economical from all angles. Outgoing and a bit of a show-off! 2 Marvin's Ch Northtrail Son Of Anarchy JW. Dark G/w. Another really nice male, a tad longer cast than first, but this is not a criticism as both fit the standard. Very good body, better spring of rib than third. Not so much angulation as first, but sufficient and balanced. Pleases for leg length, pasterns and feet. Sound gait from all views. Typical head and expression. 3 Hall's Osochilli Back To The Future For Aceca.
VD (3) 1 Beirne's Ch Penkala's Nashobah. RCC. Cream sable. Beautifully made elegant dog. On the lighter end of acceptable type for a male. Refined head rarely seen on males these days more's the pity, and used his ears today for just long enough. His angulation is very good and his gait is of such lightness and good stride length. Pressed hard for CC, but he just lacked the confidence of the winner. For me there is nothing else to dislike about him. 2 Sutherland's Icynights Uigeadil. Very reduced b/w. A well made male with everything in the correct proportions, pleasing head and good body with plenty of ribcage, strong loin. Less angulation than first, but balanced. Sound in gait from all views. 3 Bryson's Malakye The Ruler Of Inukshuk.
PB (2) 1 McInnes' Hushwing Happy Feet At Inneska. BP. Dark g/w. Nicely proportioned young lady, and ribcage ok for age. Good tail set, well angulated fore and aft. Maybe slightly round in eye and not the most feminine looking head with a dark mask. But, oh boy, what a mover! Head down, neck extended, holds her topline and away she goes. Eats up the ground soundly. 2 Johns' Alepenkye Special Kay. B/w. Preferred this one's head. Pretty, refined and feminine. Tail set a bit higher than first's and carried a little tighter. Upper arm a little less angled back than first's. Another lovely girl to watch.
JB (5) 1 H Happy Feet For Inneska. Her trot reminds me strongly of a wolf out hunting. 2 Fitzpatrick & Lawrence's Shamsky Ee'Lahn Oronsay Of Alascotia. G/w. Nicely proportioned more compact type being just off square. Very neat foxy feminine head. Tightly fitting lips and alert expression. Earset could be a little higher. Good almond oblique set eyes. She is quite dinky and therefore has a shorter stride, but sound. 3 O'Hare & Kato's Forstal's Lulea.
YB (4) All entries in this class were very immature and raw looking and showed various immaturity gait faults. 1 Bowering & Evans' Penkhala's Natalya. G/w. She is quite a big girl with not the most feminine head. Earset and carriage is ok and has refined muzzle. Body proportions are right except for width all through, lots of maturing needed to fill her out. This led to her only gait fault of appearing to move close as she is still narrow across the pelvis and ribs. Well angulated. 2 Casola's Sassicaia's Chocolate Lady At Podrical. Very reduced b/w. Not quite the angulation of first though balanced, but more feminine in head. Weaving a bit in front. Nice body, though can also fill out a bit more to benefit.
PGB (7, 3) Gait was the key in this class especially. 1 Unwin & Winter's Snowtrekka Bewitched JW. Nicely proportioned feminine girl with legs perceptibly longer than body depth at elbow. Chest, loin and croup all please. Correct tail set. Balanced angles, moderately sloping pasterns and good feet. Sweet feminine head with almond eye. Not flashy, but moved soundly with a long stride. 2 Wakker's Icynights Sparkle In The Mist At Ceannabeinne. B/w. Very attractive foxy head with good chiselling and nice ear set. Has good body proportions and leg length, angles ok and balanced. Just outmoved by first in stride length, otherwise difficult to split them. 3 Porritt's Blizzardrun Black Velvet.
LB (9, 2) A very nice class. 1 Lewis & McRae's Zoox Solara At Wayreth. B/w. RCC. This lady has a good body, sufficient heart and lung room, a strong loin, good slope to croup and hence good tail set. She also has forechest showing due to the good angle backwards of her upper arm. She has a lovely typical feminine head with an expression that switches from mischievous to haughty. Good leg length, moderate slope to pasterns and good oval feet. Ground eating sound gait. In lovely condition. 2 Cruden & Kaye's Amical Juliet For Shamsky. White. A tidily built, feminine example. Foxy refined head with clean muzzle, almond oblique set eyes and keen expression. Same comments on body apply as first. Not quite the length and angle of upper arm as first but otherwise her angulation is pleasing. Moves well and also beautifully presented. 3 Jones & Mihulka's Icynights Too Hot To Handle JW.
OB (7,1) Another really good class. 1 Bowering & Evans' Penkhala's Kyra. CC. G/w. A small package perfectly proportioned. Feminine foxy head. Ribcage well sprung but not excessive, strong loin, sloping croup, correct tail set. Leg length good, moderate slope to pasterns, tight oval feet. Well angulated and balanced fore and aft. Gait sound from all views and she could keep up with bigger girls without looking busy. I was told afterwards that this is her crowning ticket. Well deserved. 2 Leich & Koops' Forstals Shuska. Dark g/w. Kept looking to try and find something wrong with this one. Just out-gaited by the ticket winners. A nicely proportioned girl with balanced angulation and good legs. I liked her back length and topline. Moderate slope to pasterns down to good oval feet. Clean muzzle and perky expression. Earset could be a bit higher. 3 Shaw's Ch Norste Sommerset Aurora.
VB (5) 1 Wakker's Ch Snowspeeder's Coruscant at Ceannabienne ShCM. G/w. 11 years old and not showing it. She is moderately proportioned, with a well held topline, sloping croup and correct tail set. Pasterns still good and nice feet. Head is not flashy, but correct with high earset, almond eyes and alert expression. Balanced angulation fore and aft with sound movement from all views. 2 Jones' Azgard Susitna. B/w. Handsome girl of 9 years. Presented in good condition. She has a nice body with a good waist, no middle age spread here. Sloping croup and correct tail set. Moderate slope to pasterns and nice firm oval feet. Pretty head with high earset and almond eyes, just a bit longer in muzzle than skull. Sound gait. 3 Bryson's Matanuska Athena Of Inukshuk.

BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL - 2016

SIBERIAN HUSKY

Thanks for a good entry for a weekday show. It was an interesting entry and posed some challenges. The hardest part of judging is undoubtedly the compromise when decisions have to be made between dogs that possess many virtues but in some respects deviate from the ideal that we look for. One example of this is the dog that is pleasing in conformation and movement but is plain in the head - a plain head may be forgiven if the dog is otherwise excellent, but I have to say that I did see some heads that were disturbingly untypical. It could be argued that a dog does not run with its head, but when we judge we are judging the dogs as a breed and not just as a sled dog. It has been said by others that "if you lose the head you lose the breed" and I agree with this; without correct head type a dog of any breed is just another dog, and in an arctic breed there are certain characteristics of the head that help the dog to function in its natural environment. There were quite a few dogs present who didn't seem to appreciate the floor, which although was flat and made of concrete had some lines crossing it and some dark patches which some dogs found off-putting. Others possibly didn't like the feel of the floor, as the movement of many was not as good as I would have expected. The hall was also very noisy, which I do feel was off-putting to some. Presentation left something to be desired in some cases - going over some dogs left my hands in a filthy state, and while appreciating that getting the dogs out for a run may be more important than giving them a bath, just a good wash down and towel dry does not take as long as a bath but removes the odour and/or dirty feel from the coat. I was happy with the line ups and both sexes had several contenders for the CC, despite some of them having hardly any coat, which is quite normal at this time of year and something that can be forgiven. I was very proud to see how well both my BOB/BV and BP represented the breed in their respective groups, both performing faultlessly. Interestingly their performance and movement was better on the carpeted surface of the group ring than on the concrete of the breed ring. After judging when looking at the breeding of the winners I found it interesting that my BCC, Dog RCC, GB, LB were all sired by dogs I previously awarded CCs to and my DCC/BOB was the sire of both puppy winners.
MPD (2) 1 Pass & Mckay's Arctictrek's Milky Bar Kid. Red/white piebald, blue eyes, aged just 7 months, rather unsettled and very much a baby not quite sure of what was expected. Everything about him still has much developing to do but has the correct proportions and angulation to suggest it will all go in the right direction. Much preferred his head over the Second as he has higher set ears, the correct almond shaped obliquely set eyes and pleasing expression. 2 Squires' Onyagohs Joe. Grey/white, brown eyes, another baby of similar age to the first. Moving in profile his front movement was steadier than the first but as most puppies of this age he is still quite loose when viewed coming towards. As with the first, still developing and no doubt will mature into a good working dog however I did not find his head pleasing at this stage.
PD (5,2) 1 Luxmoore & Luxmoore-Ball's Hushwing Kung Fu Panda. Grey/white piebald (with the odd speckle of tan), blue eyes. Lovely head, correct earset, expression mischievous yet friendly. Well balanced, well laid shoulders, good topline which he held nicely on the move, slight arch over loin and slope to croup with correct bend of stifle and length of second thigh to give him the necessary drive when moving. As expected, much tidier on the move than the two minor puppies, BPD. 2 Pass & McKay's Arctictrek's Milky Bar Kid. 3 Squires' Onyagohs Joe.
JD (3) Not much to separate the two boys in this class, both just under 18 months old and at a similar stage in their development. 1 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Glock. Grey/white, brown eyes. Excellent proportions with good angulation and topline, good feet and pasterns, beat the second on his overall balance and was slightly better in upper arm giving him a little more front extension but this was really splitting hairs. 2 Cunningham's Icebex Show Me The Money. Grey/white, brown eyes, attractive head and expression, high set ears, slightly preferred his head over the first. Good feet and pasterns, correct rear angulation and tail carriage, will probably change places with the first on many occasions.
GD (3) 1 Wooliscroft's Zarchenski Endurance. Black/white, bi-eyed - monochromatic and with unusual markings especially on his head that give a look that is slightly different from what is usually seen in the show ring - however all colours and markings are acceptable and therefore he fits the standard, behind the markings his head is of the right proportions and he has the desired almond shaped eyes. Ideal angulation and balance, excellent topline, slight arch over loin and slope to croup, plush coat, he presented a lovely outline when standing and he moved freely and easily. An athletic dog carrying firm muscle, wish he was on my team. 2 Amphlett's Sybasprinter Buick Mckane. Grey/white, blue eyes, smaller and slightly more compact than the winner. He was rather unsettled and not really co-operating with his handler. Attractive head with almond shaped eyes, good balance and angulation, moved OK once he settled. 3 Porritt's Skimarque Winter Frost At Blizzardrun.
PGD (4) 1 Wakker's Zarchenski Mist A Zeehond At Ceannabeinne. Black/white, brown eyes, litter brother to the winner of GD with similar monochromatic colouring and plush coat. Pleasing head and expression with almond shaped eyes and good earset, great outline and angulation, super topline, slight arch over the loin and sloping croup. Moved well viewed from any angle, he is another well muscled and athletic dog who looks like he would be an asset on any team. 2 Leich, Leich & Koops' Forstal's Tuff. Wolf grey/white, brown eyes. Good head and expression, almond shaped eyes, correct angulation front and rear, correct feet and pasterns, well balanced athletic looking outline, firm muscle, moved with a smooth stride. 3 Spruce's Mysticwolf Howl At The Moon.
LD (6,2) 1 Hannam's Charoite Raven's Brew. Pale grey/white, brown eyes, his head is well shaped but today he was trying to listen to every noise from everywhere so getting his ears up was a task - he managed it eventually! This boy has one of the best fronts you could wish for with ideal angulation and length of shoulder and upper arm, he has a firm level topline, the desired arch over the loin and slope to croup. Ideal size, outline and proportions, exceptionally well-muscled and athletic. Gave his handler a bit of a hard time but once he settled on the move he had the most wonderful effortless stride, RCC. 2 James' Amical Kamdor. Grey/white, brown eyes. Most of my comments would apply to both the second and third in this class who are litter brothers and very hard to separate. Both have a lovely head with mischievous expression and almond shaped obliquely set eyes, both have super angulation and balance, well presented in lovely coat, great outlines and moved with a light-footed stride. Neither could quite match the winner for muscle condition, but on the move the second just held his topline a little better than his brother on this occasion. 3 Davis & Rees' Amical Morticon JW Sh.CM.
OD (6) 1 Cunningham's Icebex The First Avenger JW. Grey/white, blue eyes. Lovely head and expression, excellent earset, almond shaped obliquely set eyes. I have rewarded this boy well on previous occasions and today too he was a strong contender, just love his outline and balance, he has ideal angulation and proportions, excellent feet and pasterns, well-muscled and wearing one of the best coats of the day. He is a free striding and impressive mover and I'm sure he will win many green cards in the future. 2 Foard's Bifrost Merlot. Black/white, blue eyes. Pleasing head with almond shaped eyes and good earset, plush coat, good proportions with correct arch over loin and slope to croup, good outline. Inclined to fidget on the stand but moved smoothly. 3 Leich, Leich & Koops' Forstal's Solo.
VD (3) 1 Luxmoore & Luxmoore-Ball's Ch Zima Skagway. Black/white, bi-eyed. Very handsome head with correctly sized and placed ears, super expression. Excellent outline and angulation with super front assembly, correct topline that he held perfectly on the move, slight arch over loin and correct slope to croup. Super feet and pasterns, especially considering that he is 10 years old. Obviously still very fit and athletic, his muscle condition matched that of many a younger dog. On the move he is smooth, tidy and light-footed, has all the attributes I would wish to see in a working sled dog and a standard fitting Siberian. Honoured to award him CC, BOB & BV. 2 Bryson's Malakye The Ruler Of Inukshuk. Grey/white, blue eyes. Head rather strong and would prefer more refinement throughout, balance and movement OK, in good coat.
MPB (2) 1 Taylor & Gilmartin's Aloustair's Black Lassy. Dark grey/white, brown eyes, feminine, expressive foxy head with lovely high set ears and almond shaped eyes. Pleasing outline, correct slope to pasterns, level topline, slightly arched loin and correct tailset, good rear angulation, tidy mover, lots of promise. 2 Sims' Snowspeeder's Anya Kuro. Dark grey/white, brown eyes, just 6 months old, very pretty baby but a little overawed by her surroundings. Overall shape, angulation and balance exactly what I would want to see in a pup of this age, everything is there but just needs to come together, will look forward to seeing her develop.
PB (4) 1 Mcinnes' Hushwing Happy Feet At Inneska. Dark grey/white, blue eyes, feminine, mischievous expression, lovely earset, excellent angulation and balance with correct topline, arch to loin and slope to croup, beautifully presented, light-footed on the move. When moving she did tend to dip her head instead of extending it in line with her topline, but this could be corrected easily by the handler bringing the loose lead further up the neck instead of letting it rest on the shoulders. I'm sure this girl has a great future ahead of her, BP. 2 Taylor & Gilmartin's Aloustair's Black Lassy. 3 Spruce's Mysticwolf Maicoh.
JB (7,2) 1 Leich, Leich & Koops' Forstal's Kittila. Light grey/white, brown eyes, not wearing much coat at all today but this made it easier to see her lovely outline and angulation. Pretty head with sweet mischievous expression, almond shaped eyes, excellent front, feet and pasterns, correct arch over the loin and sloping croup, lovely tail carriage, carrying good muscle, moved freely and effortlessly, RCC. 2 Mcinnes' Hushwing Happy Feet At Inneska. 3 Cunningham's Icebex Yippee Ki Yay.
GB (6,1) 1 Winter & Unwin's Snowtrekka Bewitched JW. Grey/white, brown eyes, another one who had left her clothes behind in order to fully show off her excellent athletic construction. Pleasing expression with lovely almond shaped eyes, excellent angulation both front and rear, good tailset, super free-striding movement. 2 March's Trailhunter's Kalisibella. White, blue eyes, feminine with lovely head, almond-shaped obliquely set eyes, pleasing outline and angulation, didn't quite match the winner on front movement today. 3 Wooliscroft's Zarchenski Challenger.
PGB (7,1) 1 March's Trailhunter's Miki. Grey/white piebald, brown eyes, another without much coat leaving her lovely outline in full view. Feminine, athletic, super angulation and topline, slight arch over the loin and correctly sloping croup. Carrying firm muscle and light-footed on the move although didn't quite give her best in the challenge. 2 Seward's Forstal's Crystal With Elleonia JW. Grey/white piebald, blue eyes, feminine expressive head, with good earset and almond-shaped eyes, balanced outline, good topline and tail carriage, wasn't entirely settled on the move but once she did settle moved with a good stride. 3 Wakker's Icynights Sparkle In The Mist At Ceannabeinne.
LB (7,1) 1 Spooner's Charoite Ghost Rider With Mystic Energy. Grey/white, brown eyes, didn't want to put her ears up very much but they are well set when she does put them up, good expression, almond shaped eyes, super front, level topline, she gives the impression of great athleticism. Excellent muscle tone, moved freely and easily with the right amount of reach and drive. 2 Smith's Amical Snow White. White, brown eyes, very feminine, good feet and pasterns, balanced outline, correct topline, croup and tailset, moved smoothly but couldn't quite match the muscle-tone of the winner. 3 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Talvi.
OB (8,1) 1 Seward's Elleonia Breaking Dawn. Grey/white, brown eyes, typical head and expression, pleasing outline and angulation, slight arch over the loin, correctly sloping croup, never puts a foot wrong on the move although today didn't stride out quite as well in the challenge, in gorgeous coat and beautifully presented. 2 Hannam's Charoite Cherry Kamma. Dark grey/white, brown eyes, another very athletic girl with excellent muscle, at the rangy end of the standard and lack of coat made her look all the more rangy - but nothing wrong with that. Super angulation and she moves with the most fabulous stride keeping her topline level and demonstrating the required effortlessness. 3 Smith's Rajarani Lilia Anana.
VB (6) 1 Foard's Zima Squirrel At Bifrost. Dark grey/white, blue eyes, giving her handler a bit of a hard time but my eye was drawn to her both in the class and in the challenge. Mischievous expression, good earset, one of the best fronts of the day with ideal angulation of shoulder and upper arm, super balance, good topline with slight arch over the loin and sloping croup giving correct tail carriage, ideal bend of stifle, in beautiful condition carrying firm muscle, when she settled her movement was effortless and light-footed. Honoured to award her the CC. 2 Jones' Azgard Susitna. Black/white, brown eyes, feminine, typical foxy head, in good coat but carrying just a tad excess weight, good topline and tailset, moved freely. 3 Amphlett's Sybasprinter Dolly Dagger.

Three Counties Championship Show, 10 June 2016

Siberian Huskies

Judge: Judy Wakker

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge at this very well run, friendly show.  I was delighted with the quality of the entry and really enjoyed my judging.  Many of the classes gave me challenging decisions to make and final choices came down to really minor differences. There were several dogs and bitches that deserved green cards and I’ve no doubt they will win them in the near future.  I was a little concerned about the heads on some of the younger exhibits and hope we don’t lose the ‘finely chiselled fox-like appearance’ that makes our breed so stunning.  Condition and muscle was excellent in almost all exhibits. I am very encouraged by the depth of quality today and therefore the future of our lovely breed.

Puppy Dog (5,1)

I miss having a MP class as it is unfair to compare puppies at this age as they change so much so quickly.

  1. Fraser and Greenland’s Rajarani Raphael

Lovely b/w 11 month puppy. Very typical, with super head, good balanced angulation and body to leg length proportions, correct tail set giving a pleasing outline.  Smooth movement with level topline and good reach and drive.   Presented in lovely condition.  BP

  1. Sims’ Snowspeeder’s Darklighter

7 month baby piebald with huge potential.  Handsome head and lovely earset, super shoulders and angulation.  Lovely coat. Moved well with level topline and good reach and drive. He is just as a puppy of this age should be and will definitely have a great future, one that I will watch with interest.

  1. Squires’ Onyagohs Joe

Junior Dog (4)

  1. Fraser and Greenland’s Rajarani Raphael BP
  2. Anderson’s Shamsky Ee’lahn Oldany at Uriakin

14 month boisterous b/w.   Lovely head with typical eye and ear set.  Balanced angulation and good tail set.  Like the winner he has a great outline and was presented in beautiful condition. However he was trying to out run his handler today so did not settle on the move.  He has very sound construction so will do well once he settles down.

  1. Squires’ Onyagohs Joe

Postgraduate Dog (8, 1)

  1. Wooliscroft’s Zarchenski Endurance

Stunning 2 year old monochromatic b/w that is hard to fault.  Beautiful head, strong neck leading to excellent shoulders. Super front and rear angulation, strong topline and correct tail set.  Correct sloping pasterns and feet. Correct proportions giving a lovely side profile.   Free flowing gait making it look so easy. Superb condition, well muscled and great coat.  Pushed the CC winner all the way.   RCC

  1. Robertson’s Chatanika’s Potts

2 year old piebald, very close to 1 in all aspects.  Stunning head and very sound construction. A bit overawed today as this was his first show but he coped really well.  He has an excellent future ahead of him.

  1. Barry and Grisbrooke’s Azgard Glock

Limit Dog (7) A great class with several potential CC winners.

  1. Hannam’s Charoite Raven’s Brew

This 5 year old g/w just oozes quality.  Such a typical Siberian, beautiful in looks, strong and athletic in construction.  Handsome head with lovely expression, strong neck leading to super shoulders.   Excellent angulation and proportions, strong topline, correct tail set, pasterns and feet. Effortless movement with reach and drive, another one making it look easy.  Shown in superb, well muscled condition.    A perfect example of a Siberian to represent the breed in the group.  CC and BOB

  1. Platt’s Rykalov’s Sparks at Wightflight

4 year old g/w. Another well constructed, well muscled boy that excels on the move with excellent reach and drive and the perfect level topline. Gave him BP in 2012 at 7 months old and am delighted to see how well he is developing.  Pushed hard for the RCC.

  1. Robertson’s Chatanika’s Wild Whistler

Open Dog (7) Another class with several candidates for a green card.

  1. Cunningham’s Icebex the First Avenger JW

4 year old g/w.  Another typical standard fitting Siberian in great condition.  Masculine head with correct ear set and super expression.  Great balanced angulation and with good shoulders, lovely proportions.  Great outline standing and smooth effortless side movement and coming and going.

  1. Foard’s Zima Hatcher at Bifrost

This 10 year old g/w was one of the best movers on the day. He has superb construction and is a fantastic example of the breed, he just didn’t want to be a show dog today.  Would have been a worthy green card winner and would love to have him on our team.

  1. Greenland and Manley’s Ch Skimarque A’teb Running Wolf

Puppy Bitch (9,3) What a lovely class of youngsters, such great news for the future of the breed

  1. Sims’ Snowspeeder’s Anya Kuro

Super dark g/w 7 month baby in beautiful condition.  Lovely head and great angulation, very balanced giving a nice outline.  A very natural mover with great reach and drive.

  1. Sargent’s Keriquel Aqualight

Another very promising puppy who was just a little phased by her first time in a grass ring. Very typical head with lovely expression, well constructed all over, great extension and level topline.  Presented in beautiful condition.

  1. Jones and Mihulka’s Shaytaan’s Devil’s Dust at Icynights TAF NAF (IMP CAN) Junior Bitch (6)

Junior Bitch (6)

  1. Glover’s Siberlistic The Ell Cat

14 month very raw young black girl, who will be a slow maturer.  Good feminine head, athletic body with strong level topline on the move.  Free, easy and powerful movement.  Very well muscled.  Her unusual colour will be a challenge for her handler but I hope he keeps showing her as she has great potential.

  1. Anderson’s Shamsky Ee’lahn Ronay at Uriakin

14 month b/w girl with very pretty head and typical inquisitive expression.  Good angulation and ratios.  Another good mover but just lost out on the drive of one. Very well presented and handled.

  1. John’s Alepenkye Special Kay

Postgraduate Bitch (13,3)

  1. Cunningham’s Icebex in the Valley of Elah

This 4 year old g/w won this strong class on her movement. Strong well constructed body. Excellent angulation front and rear.  Strong topline, correct tail set and carriage.  In beautiful well muscled condition.

  1. Evan’s Zarchenski Schooner Pickle at Demoneira

Very sound 2 year old b/w bitch who should easily go on to win a green card.  Litter sister to the dog RCC winner and has all the same qualities in a more feminine form.   Lovely head, alert expression, and strong athletic body, presented in beautiful hard condition.  Super profile on the stand.   Excellent movement but played handler up a bit so lost out to the more consistent winner.

  1. Squires’ Snowtrekka Willow at Coldspell

Limit Bitch (8,2)

  1. Luxmoore’s Amiz Aliya

3 year g/w girl presented in great condition displaying everything an athletic, standing fitting working sled dog should do.  Very typical Siberian head, good ears and lovely eyes.  Excellent proportions and great, balanced angulation front and rear and correct tail set.  Lovely flowing movement and pushed very hard for the CC and RCC, just losing out on the consistency of movement of the winners.

  1. Jones and Mihulka’s Icynights Too Hot to Handle JW

2 year old b/w with the best head of the day.  Her soft gentle eyes and alert well set ears gives her the most typical fox like, mischievous expression. Pushed the winner all the way and all the above applies to this excellent girl.  Still a baby who I am sure will start winning the big green cards very soon.

  1. Robinson’s Rigrunner Clamshell

Open Bitch (8)

  1. Leich, Leich and Koops’ Galeenaa Av Vargevass of Forstal

5 year old quality g/w shown in superb coat and condition.  Lovely eyes and alert expression, great shoulders and excellent angulation and proportions.  Strong topline and correct tail set and carriage.  Excelled on the move, light footed and effortless, so sound coming and going.    Delighted to award her a very well deserved 3rd CC.   CC

  1. Platt’s Rigrunner Candybar in Wightflight

7 year old g/w very purposeful girl who pulled out all the stops to win the RCC.  Like so many today her body is built for the job and her movement makes it look so easy.  Great reach and drive but no wasted energy.    Another presented in hard muscle condition. RCC.

  1. Bowering and Evans’ Penkhala’s Kyra

WPBAW

This was my second time awarding CC's in Siberian Huskies, and not having judged the breed for nearly three years, it was great to see how some have matured. Once again I did notice that there is still a range of types which made the experience more of a challenge, though I must say that this was not as extreme as before and, of course, I can only judge the dogs on the day. I was delighted with my entry and also with the placings in the Groups.

Blackpool : Zena Thorn Andrews

MPD (2) 1 & BP, Whitehead & Hughes' Jacalous Thinking Out Loud For Siberiadrift. Delightful baby, he still needs to come up on the leg, but has plenty of time. Lovely head, good neck and front, body coming on well and he holds a perfect topline, trailing tail and powerful moving for age. 2 Wright's Rynealnite Dodger. Better length of leg but still too narrow and needing to strengthen more. Liked his eye set, strong muzzle, good bone for size and tidy feet, movement can still improve all ways.
PD (1) 1 Whitehead & Hughes' Jacalous Thinking Out Loud For Siberiadrift.
JD (5) 1 & Res CC, Whatsley's Winter Melody Perfect Trouble. A nice class! Winner quite a forward youngster, excellent conformation, not too deep or low on leg, and nicely balanced for height to length proportions, good head, ears could be carried a little stiffer, excellent neck and topline, good strong and precise mover. 2 Rees' Amical Five Star. Beautiful head and ears. Also admired his proportions and overall shape and type. He needs to widen a little more between the elbows when he will trouble the best. Wonderful colour and in excellent coat for summer time. 3 Wickers & Munday's Vukasin Dance With Dragons.
PGD (3) 1 Porritt's Skimarque Winter Frost At Blizzardrun. Good size and length of leg, well made and moves with some purpose, firm legs and feet, chest deep enough, excellent topline and tail carriage, good head proportions and strong jaws. 2 Clark's Peachespaws Bein' Green. Heavier type and could have more length of foreleg for his body shape, pleasing head and ear set, good front and rear angulation and he moved very well all round. In super coat too.
LD (8) 1 Wright's Pelenrise Brite Horizon JW. Nicely proportioned and has a good length of leg and correct angulation to give him a powerful stride, ok in head, neat ears, short coupled but body length correct and his ribcage is long, well set and carried tail, nice and light on the move. 2 Wynne's Glenbranter Summat Special At Mydisa JW ShCM. Also appealed, expecially on the move, where his power comes into play, strong legs and feet, quick and light on his feet, shows and moves in harmony with his handler. 3 Huckle's Bortreece Celer Cito.
OD (8) 1, CC, BOB, Group 1 and Res BIS, Taylor & Taylor-Morris' Ch Pelenrise Brite Knight JW ShCM. Lovely class. I thought the first two stood away. Winner in fine body, not too heavy or light, excellent conformation, super outline and dead true moving, topped by a lovely head and eyes set in well, good legs and feet. Went all the way to Res BIS. 2 Greenland & Manley's Ch Skimarque A'Teb Running Wolf. 7 yr old in lovely form too. He can certainly move too, and is of super type and quality. Holds himself well and has such a lovely head and correct expression. 3 James' Ch Amical Trojan.
VD (1) 1 Bryson's Malakye The Ruler Of Inukshuk. In wonderful condition for 10 yrs, still sound and has a lovely mouth, super solid topline, powerful build and a credit to his owner.
MPB (2, 1) 1 Wolfe's Lady Marmalade Of Noble's Snowstars (Imp Fra). Good looking puppy, correct body and length of back, but still needs to come up on the leg a trifle more, which, by her knuckles I'm sure she will do. Ok in head and muzzle, neat ears, lovely topline and tail set and she moves well, just a bit 'boundy'.
PB (6) 1 Lomax & Wilson's Arcticskies Fallen Angel At Snowglade. Two lovely promising bitches. Winner has a beautiful head and odd eyes which are so attractive in this breed, good conformation, the right amound of weight, moves freely and is light and effortless, very nice all through. 2 Whatsley's Hanya Of Sniego Sunys. Looked less mature and in need of a little more time. She too is nicely put together, good topline and tail carriage, enough body and not over deep in chest, should finish up well. 3 Benge's Icedrift Serenity.
JB (8, 1) 1 Hughes' Siberiadrift Hallows Shine JW. Nicely handled to get a good positive move. Lovely head and expression, good construction from front to rear, moving well. 2 Rogerson's Siberiadrift Golden Fenix With Nosregor NAF. Not quite so forward as winner and she looked quite a challenge to handle, has the make and shape and she moves fairly well but needs time and practice. 3 Whitehead & Wilkinson's Vukasin A Dream Of Spring.
PGB (10, 2) 1 Morris' Zaltana Cwnhapus Tegan (Imp Pol) JW ShCM. She is a little low on the leg I think, but her sound, active movement, good body and muscle and beautiful head could be overlooked. Very well handled and in excellent coat. 2 Whatsley's Hyperborea Tantum Glittering Violet (Imp). I preferred her proportions of height to length, but she is undermuscled and a little too thin and her movement up and down was nowhere up to the winners. She is well made and has a good length of stride in profile and again a beautiful head. 3 Lapteva & Troskot's Eva Dance With Me Tonight.
LB (9) 1 Hughes' Jacalous Keepsake For Siberiadrift JW ShCM. Lovely head, foxy in shape and neatly set ears, very well made, light and easy mover all round, she does tend to slope off a trifle over croup but hindquarters are good and she has correct angulation, fair coat for summer time. 2 Lomax & Wilson's Arcticskies True Spirit At Snowglade. Super mover in profile and has an immaculate topline and good propulsion from rear. I thought her head and muzzle a little heavier than ideal and perhaps not so feminine as first. She looks a sturdy and workmanlike type, in lovely nick. 3 Morris' Winter Melody Desert Rose Avec Cwnhapus (Imp Pol) NAF TAF.
OB (9) 1 & Res CC, Sutton's Ch Jacalous Fire And Desire At Lyfearon JW ShCM. Lovely class and some beauties here. I loved the condition of body and coat of winner, absolutely spot on moving and an attractive head and expression, trailing tail, good legs and feet and well handled. 2 Anderson's Amical Liliac At Sabakazure. Also a beauty, not quite in body at the moment and more muscle would help. So nicely made and she is the correct height and length for a bitch. Moving well and is light and effortless. 3 Cameron's Jacalous Ice Diamond.
VB (3) 1 & CC, Wicker's Jacalous Nephthys At Icekingdom JW. Three lovely old girls! Winner in sparkling form and she really looked a 'teenager'. Lovely quality and breed type and moving out easily. She more she moved the better she looked, now a well deserved champion I hear. 2 Jones' Azgard Susitra. Feet have gone a little now and ears set fairly low, she still can move beautifully and is in lovely body, holding a firm topline and moving freely. 3 Bryson's Sireniki Onyx Dream Of Inukshuk.

East of England

My thanks as always for your support. Friday shows are impossible for some and costly for others. As this is my last judging appointment I hope you will allow me the liberty of a few parting impressions. My last two judging appointments were four years apart and the thing that struck me on both occasions was that our breed is beginning to look like Any variety sleddog! We are all aware that there has been a division of type over the years between dogs emanating from American show type lines which are of a heavier bone more compact sort and the more working lines which are much rangier and lighter boned. My preference has always been for the latter as I do not think a general transportation dog like the Siberian needs to be humping around all that extra bone to be functional. However there is bone and there is bone! These days there are many dogs that are simply fine boned and there is no "moderate" about it. It's fractional, infact it is sometimes fractional at both ends of the spectrum. Some that are way too tall on the leg to be proportionate. What used to be a really attractive and instantly recognisable breed is at times becoming a bit ugly and I am afraid this plays right into the hands of those judges who have remained staunchly uninterested in the breeds true purpose. There are minor points like dogs with enormous ears and round eyes and OK you can argue that a dog doesn't run on it's head but the breed standard doesn't say we can overlook such things so long as we see these dogs out at a race every weekend. Dog shows are a competitive beauty contest after all, it is not a Sepp-evaluation. Siberian people here have always set themselves a hard task, not just the production of show dogs but the production of dogs that are able to also perform their original function and still be beautiful while they do it. We know we have dogs that can work anywhere in the world so it is now my hope that the beauty aspect might become more of a consideration again in the coming years. I wish you all the very best of luck and thank everyone who has entered under me over the years.
MPD (3,1) 1 Redwood's, Norste Dogwood. 6 months old white of nice construction and sound easy movement. Steady showman who should have a bright future. BP. 2 Wakker's, Shaytaan's doctor Watson at Ceannabeinne (imp Can). Another white of rangy working build. Appears to have nice easy movement when settled but he decided to provide some entertainment by laying on his back a lot. Both of these kids have time on their side.
JD (5,1) 1 Thomas's, Shimani Just in Time. 15 months. Different end of the spectrum entirely but won me over with such super sound smooth ground covering movement. I like to see dogs that are really travelling forward and this little guy does that. Classic head type and good coat. Consummate showman throughout. 2 Fraser and Greenland's, Rajarani Raphael. 12 months. Rangy built solid B/W much to like about him but on the day the smaller dog in 1st just had the smoother movement. 3 Downey and Last's, Azgard Regatta at Snoqualmie.
YD (3,3) 1 Barry and Grisbrooke's Azgard Glock. G/W of rangy build with moderate angles and good bone length and topline with arch over the loin and the slightly sloping croup. Cracking mover with smooth ground eating stride. For me his head is way too strong but I do think this dog will do well as he matures. 2 Fraser and Greenland's Rajarani Raphael. 3 Riaubyte's Demidoff shake the world (imp Rus).
ND (1) 1 Fraser and Greenlands, Rajarani Raphael.
PGD (2,2) 1 Robertson's Chatanika wild whistler. Appeals very much for head type and construction with moderate angles and correct topline. If anything he could have tighter pasterns and feet but he just eats up the ground on the move. My notes say naked! 2 Porritt's Skimarque winter frost at winterun JW. Very nice dog. Well constructed and good for breed type. Moved slightly wide behind but to be honest I wasn't sure if he didn't like the surface. 1st out moved him but I could see them changing places on another day.
LD (5,5) 1 Davis and Ree's. Amical Morticon JW ShCM. Initially I thought 1st and 2nd would be the other way around but this well made and typical dog won through with his lovely head even though his ears are on the tall side. Moves with a sound ground covering stride. 2 Jame's Amical Kamdor. Close call here and similar comments apply. Nice head and good movement, showed to advantage. 3 Redwood's Rigrunner Jubilee Flotilla.
OD (5,2) 1 Marvin's Ch. Northtrail son of anarchy JW. A great favourite of mine and a well known champion of both the ring and the trail. The only thing I would ever change about him would be a bit more slope in his pasterns but he has great smooth ground covering stride. On this occasion he did everything he was asked but somehow he just lacked a bit of sparkle when it came to the challenge. RCC. 2 Leich and Koop's. Forstal's Solo. Attractive typey B/W with nice masculine but foxy head, good construction and steady showmanship. Moved nicely but in the stand he is tending to slope and I couldn't figure out why he should. 3 Thomas's Int/Lux/Ire/Nl Ch Shimani Iceman JW IRE JUN CH AWTD(S).
VD (2,2) 1 Sutherland's Icynight's uigeadail. Only two boys and both favourites of mine! I think I have judged this dog twice before. The first time I saw him he was a "wow" the second time it was as if someone had switched the light off. This time the light was very much back on and this big typey dog decided to give us a bit of a lesson in Siberian movement. DCC his second I am told. I don't think his 3rd will be far away as he is finally coming into his own. BV. 2 William's Salazka's Falco Aesolon. This lovely sound and typical dog with what is fast becoming an old fashioned head was unlucky to come up against 1st who was on fire today but he is another one coming into their prime as so often happens in our long lived breed.
MPB (8,3) 1 Shaw's, Norste Kanguyak. First of a clutch of very raw white babies. Nicely constructed but quite finely boned. Very foxy head, nice length of neck and good topline. Good stride length when settled. 2 Shaw's, Norste Kanik Iris. Same comments could apply to all three white peas in a pod here. 3 Robinson's, Norste Zinnia qannik among Rigrunner.
PB (1) 1 McIntyre's Dreamwolves Celtic Queen. R/W Nicely constructed although a bit of a flat topline for me. Moved soundly and steadily and showed well. Good coat and good feet.
JB (4) 1 Leich and Koop's, Forstal's Kittila. Tall well built girl, nicely constructed and moved smoothly and soundly but doesn't exactly put herself out at the moment! Tough decisions in this class but I took this girl for my preference of head type. A class with promise. 2 McInnes's, Hushwing Happy feet at Inneska. And happy feet she does have! I really struggled with this class. I loved the construction and movement of this girl and I don't doubt that all four girls here will change places many times in the future as they mature. 3 John's Alepenkye special Kay.
YB (5,3) 1 McInnes's Hushwing Happy feet ay Inneska. 2 John's, Alepenkye special Kay. Placed in previous class. Rangy B/W girl with elegant movement. One who should do well with maturity.
NB (2) 1 Biddlecombe's Forstal's Tsavanti at Tsaritsa. Not the best behaved but again my preference for head type. Good stride length and light movement when settled. 2 McInnes, Hushwing Happy Feet at Inneska.
PGB (4,1) 1 Wakker's, Icynight's sparkle in the mist at Ceannabeinne. Typey feminine young bitch with good construction. Nice moderate angles and correct topline. Smooth forward movement with a lot of drive from behind. 2 Porritt's Blizzardrun's Black velvet. Another attractive typey bitch of good coat and construction just out-moved for stride length on the day. 3 Smith's Amical Kapri.
LB (12,2) 1 Robertson's Chatanika's Made in heaven. Wow what a class. Had I have been judging to the FCI system all placed bitches and some unplaced would have been graded excellent. but since we have to place into some kind of order this tall white bitch edged out the competition with her outstanding movement. Such nice proportion and angulation with correct topline. I was told this was her crowning CC and having given green stars to her parents I am very pleased to see that they are producing such quality progeny. BCC. 2 Jones and Mihulka's, Icynight's too hot to handle. Lovely headed feminine bitch of moderate rangy construction and light ground covering stride which just held out 3rd who has a sublime Siberian head. 3 Cruden and Kaye's, Amical Juliet for Shamsky.
OB (6) 1 Cameron's, Jacalous Ice Diamond. Silver grey/ white. A fraction more bone than I would normally go for but the way things are in the breed now this is no bad thing. Excell's for true Siberian wedge shaped head with great eye shape and placement, full cheeks and the fast becoming rare proportionate sized ears. What really won it for me was the movement which is so light footed but at the same time has a powerful "off the ground" quality about it. RCC. 2 Cruden and Kaye's Amical Betty Boop for Shamsky. The second absolutely beautiful bitch from this kennel. I don't know if either have titles yet but this girl is another out of the top drawer. She moved soundly but just just didn't match 1st for reach and drive today. 3 Robinson and Platt's Rigrunner Jubilee Flypast JW.
VB (2,2) 1 Bowering and Evan's, Penkhalas Kyra. Feminine and typical bitch with great construction and smooth sound movement. Top drawer girl who is literally only just coming into her own. 2 William's Salazka's Nantosuelta, another lovely girl with typical head, great construction and coat. Moved nicely but not over doing it!

It gave me great pleasure to judge the breed on the day. However I did find it perticularily challenging in both the mid dog and bitch classes.
The quality in the lower classes was disapointing but due to the longevity of this breed it was very exciting to have a number of my previouse winners
returning for top honours.

LADIES KENNEL ASSOCIATION

CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – Saturday 10th December 2016

SIBERIAN HUSKIES

JUDGE LYN HALL

Thanks to the exhibitors for a quality entry. I’m pleased to say that there does seem to have been an improvement in the eighteen months since I last judged and although fronts are still a problem, there are some promising youngsters coming through.

Minor Puppy Dog (6,1) 1st: Miss J Cooper’s Janskcoo's Fortitude 8 month grey/white. Correct proportions and good angulation. Looked good on the move striding out well and parallel coming and going. Promising puppy. 2nd: Miss R Skeath’s Janskcoos's Merciful. Litter brother to 1 and as they are so alike this was a close decision. Not as settled on the move as 1 and at the moment slightly tall for length, but this can change as he develops. I thought he had a slightly better head and earset than the winner. 3rd: Mr S Sturch & Miss J Harris’s Frostynights Drogon

Puppy Dog (3,0)

1st: Mr H H & Mrs J M Wakker’s Shaytaan's Doctor Watson At Ceannabeinne (Imp) . This is the one I’d have taken home today. 11 months white. Classic head and expression. Excellent angulation front and rear. Good slightly sloping pasterns. Good coat, although in the process of losing it at the moment. Correct proportions. Good reach and drive. To be picky did move a tad close behind, but I would expect this to be corrected as he tightens up with maturity. RCC BPIB 2nd: Mrs J Foard’s Amiz Atratus at Bifrost 10 months dark grey and white. Extremely well muscled. Balanced angulation although upper arm slightly upright. Pasterns OK. Once settled moved well. 3rd: Mr J & Mrs K Ronald’s Taliniwolves Jet Fighter

Junior Dog (3,2) 1st: Miss J Mrs V Wright’s Rynealnite Dodger . 14 months grey and white. Good rear angulation but shoulders could be better Tight tail. Rear movement slightly close.

Post Graduate Dog (4,1) 1st: Miss R Cunningham’s Icebex Show Me The Money. 2 year old grey and white. Correct proportions, good angulation, nice pasterns, sound and powerful mover. 2nd: Miss S L Pike’s Paripassu's Wolfs Bane from Kinguyakkii 3year old grey and white. Slightly short in leg and neck. Good front angulation. Slightly weak hocks.

3rd: Mr & Mrs M Yerril’s Alepenkye Fruit Loops

Limit Dog (6,1) 1st: Ms S & Ms S Leich & Ms A Koops Forstals Hoki 7 year old grey and white Correct proportions, well muscled, adequate angulation, sufficient bone, moved well with good reach and drive. Masculine head 2nd: Mr W G & Mrs H E Redwood’s Rigrunner Jubilee Flotilla  4 year old grey and white. Very attractive head and expression, excellent shoulder angulation, good pasterns. Tail a bit high set. Liked him a lot, but although he moved very well he did not cover the ground as well as 1 today 3rd: Miss E A Winter & Miss S T Unwin’s Nashanessen's Dirty Harry at Snowtrekka JW

Open Dog (3,1) 1st: Miss R Cunningham’s Icebex The First Avenger JW 5 year old grey and white shown in super well muscled condition. Not a flashy dog, but has everything you would want. Very well angulated and sound throughout. Elegant neck and typical Siberian head complete the picture, especially on the move. Effortless ground covering movement with plenty of reach and drive. CC 2nd: Miss J & Mrs V Wright’s Pelenrise Brite Horizon JW 4 year old grey and white I like his head and expression. Overall proportions correct. Angulation OK but does have a slightly stuffy neck. Moved soundly but not as effectively as 1.

Veteran Dog (1,0) 1st: Miss A V Bryson’s Malakye The Ruler Of Inukshuk 10 year old grey and white. At the top of the standard but correct proportions. Balanced angulation, good pasterns, smooth movement covering the ground well.

Minor Puppy Bitch (7,2)

Difficult class with five very nice puppies present. I liked them all.

1st: Mr S Sturch & Miss J Harris’s Frostynights Little Dove 7 months black and white. Pretty head and good earset once she chose to display it. Well put together with good balanced angulation, good pasterns. Moved soundly. 2nd: Miss J Cooper’s Janskcoo's Strength N'honour 8 month old grey and white. Not as together as 1 and movement a little loose. Very nice puppy though with a pretty head and expression, good angulation and proportions. 3rd: Mrs S C & Mr J R Downey & Mr M P Last’s Janskcoo's Now We Are Free For Snoqualmie

Puppy Bitch (6,1)

1st: Miss L E Norman’s Skimarque Grace And Favour 10 months grey and white. Correct proportions, pretty head and expression, good earset, well angulated. Moved very smoothly and soundly. 2nd: Miss A V Bryson’s Inukshuk Kunik O'ullaktut  10 months grey and white. Same age but not as mature as 1 and a rangier type. Moved quite well, covering plenty of ground, but still quite loose when moving. Well angulated. 3rd: Miss A V Bryson’s Inukshuk Tulugaq O'the Stars

Junior Bitch (6,1) 1st: Miss A V Bryson’s Inukshuk Kunik O'ullaktut  2nd: Miss A J Spruce’s Mysticwolf Maicoh 17 months grey and white. Pretty head and expression. Angulation is balanced so movement was smooth enough, but just a bit too straight front and rear. Good sloping pasterns. Good coat. 3rd: Ms S Jones & Mr G Mihulka’s Shaytaan's Devil's Dust At Icynights (Imp)

Post Graduate Bitch (10,2) 1st: Miss E A Winter & Miss S T Unwin’s Snowtrekka Bewitched JW 3 year old grey and white. Not flashy and still has a bit of maturing to do, but what a mover! Shown in fit, well muscled condition. Excellent angulation and good length of neck. Correct proportions. Very businesslike mover, covering huge amounts of ground effortlessly and soundly. RCC 2nd: Mr H H & Mrs J M Wakker’s Icynights Sparkle In The Mist At Ceannabeinne 3 year old black and white. Lots to like about this one, she was unlucky to come up against 1 on such top form. Very pretty head and expression. Good angulation front and rear, sound throughout. Moved well, with typical Siberian effortless gait, but did not quite have the oomph of 1.

3rd: Miss D E Seward’s Forstal's Crystal With Elleonia JW

Limit Bitch (5,0) 1st: Ms S & Ms S Leich & Ms A Koops Forstal's Kite 2½ year old grey and white. Super angulation, good pasterns and correct proportions. Very feminine head with typical mischievous expression, good earset. Sound coming and going. Looked terrific in profile with her long stride and drive CC & BOB 2nd: Ms S Jones & Mr G Mihulka’s Icynights Too Hot To Handle JW 3 year old black and white that I liked as a youngster and is fulfilling that early promise. Another very well angulated bitch, again with correct proportions and a pretty feminine head. Light footed and effortless movement, but not as positive as 1. Close decision though.

3rd: Miss L E Norman’s Skimarque Snofall Lacie

Open Bitch (6,0)

1st: Mr A Bowering & Ms P Evans’s Ch Penkhala's Kyra 7 year old grey and white. Petite but within the standard, I wouldn’t want her any finer boned though. Excellent angulation and perfectly in proportion. Moved with sparkle, very sound, light footed and covering the ground well. BVIB

2nd: Mr A C & Mrs T L Mason Ch Jacalous Silver Angel Over Sleepihallo JW 3 year old grey and white. Good and balanced angulation. Slightly too long in loin, but correct ratio of leg length to height. I do like her head and gentle expression. She moved well and soundly, covering a fair bit of ground, but did not have the verve or drive of 1 today.

3rd: Miss L E Norman’s Skimarque Anna Pavlova

Veteran Bitch (3,1) 1st: Mrs T & Mr I Wakeling’s Klewagin Chaska 9 year old white. Pretty head and expression with good earset. Very good angulation. Correct proportions. Good, positive movement, light footed and effective. 2nd: Mrs L & Mr C Howarth’s Penkhalas Kinguyakki 10 year old black tan and white. Most attractive bitch with a lovely head and expression. Well angulated and proportioned. Built to move, but unfortunately chose to lollop sluggishly round the ring today.

Totally balanced and floated around the ring with excellent reach and drive. Could not deny her the CC and BOB. 2 Robinson & Platt's Rigrunner Jubilee Flypast JW. Very close between 1 and 2. They both have similar qualities of correct body shape and proportion, correct anglation and totally balanced, just preferred the head of first today. RCC. 3 Platt's Rigrunner Candybar In Wightflight.

LEEDS

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Leeds Championship Show to view my favourite working breed. Don't own any now, too long in the tooth to do them justice! Overall the standard was good, eyes and ear carriage generally correct. A couple could benefit from a little more flesh on their bones and another couple the reverse. Movement overall was good, bit disappointed in the lack of muscle in some. Too relaxed in the summer months maybe. MPD (2, 1) 1 Whitehead & Hughes' Jacalous Thinking Out Loud For Siberiadrift. B/w, 7 mths, good head and expression, nice shoulder placement, level topline, correct tail carriage, very nicely put together, movement a bit loose at the moment, but that will tighten with age. Best PD. PD (2) 1 Whitehead & Hughes' Jacalous Thinking Out Loud For S. 2 Waterford & Rogerson's Gercekask Midnight Cowboy. B/w, good head, ear and eye carriage giving a keen expression, good shoulder placement and bend of stifle, movement needs to strengthen. In need of a new coat. JD (1) 1 Waterford & Hughes' Gercekask Midnight Cowboy. GD (1) 1 Addison's Amical He's A Star At Mersothis. G/w, nicely put together, correct headpiece, good eye and ear placement, well placed shoulders, level back, good turn of stifle, moved well. PGD (2) 1 Porritt's Skimarque Winter Frost At Blizzardrun. G/w. Lovely foxy head, keen expression, good shoulders and bend of stifle, retained topline on the move, sound all round, maturing nicely, should have a bright future. 2 Spruce's Mysticwolf Howl At The Moon. G/w. What an apt name! Nice head and expression, good bone, a little heavier all round, very dense coat, moved soundly. LD (6, 1) 1 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Glock. G/w, looks the part, true Husky head giving alert confident expression, correct length to height ratio, good layback of shoulder and turn of stifle, good bone and muscle, correct tail carriage, presented in good condition, moved with ease, very free, lengthy strides, sound as a bell. Pleased to award him the CC. 2 James' Amical Kamdor. G/w, masculine headpiece, good expression, good layback of shoulder and turn of stifle, nicely balanced all round, good condition, sound, easy mover. 3 Coleman's Bristeph Colville For Rhykia. OD (9, 2) Lovely class. 1 Taylor & Taylor-Morris' Ch Pelenrise Bright Knight JW. Sh. CC. Lovely head and expression front and rear assembly compliment each other, level topline, good tail carriage, good bone and muscle, excellent condition and movement. Res CC. 2 Leich, Leich & Koops' Forstals Solo. Very well balanced young man, having good length to height ratio, well placed shoulders and bend of stifle, good muscletone, keen expression, moved well covering plenty of ground. 3 Wright & Wright's Penrise Bright Horizon JW. VD (1) 1 Glover's Ch Tala Tiva Goshe At Siberlistic. 7 yrs, not really a veteran in this breed, more like the prime of life methinks. Well balanced sound moving dog, all in the right place, could give some of the youngsters a run for their money. MPB (3, 2) 1 Whitehead's Jacalous Amazing Grace. B/w. 7 mths litter sister to Best PD. Built very much on the same lines, sweet expression, balanced outline, movement a little loose at the moment, be interesting to see how they develop. PB (3, 1) 1 Binnersley & Binnersley's Arctic Circle Of Life At Myaoladream. G/w, lovely puppy, sweet cheeky expression, good ear carriage and eye placement, good shoulders and stifle, correct tail carriage, excellent coat and condition, moved well. Best PB and BPIB. 2 Whitehead's Jacalous Amazing Grace. JB (6) 1 Rogerson's Siberiadrift Golden Fenix With Nosregor. G/w, neat foxy head with bright expression, balanced length to height ratio, good shoulder placement and turn of stifle, firm condition, very sound movement. 2 Whitehead & Wilkinson's Vukasin A Dream Of Spring JW. C/w, lovely expression, good ear carriage and eye placement, correct shoulders and turn of stifle, very nicely turned out, sound, easy movement. 3 Sutton & Kent's Vukasin A Song Of Ice And Fire At Lyfearon. Interesting class this with some promising exhibits. GB (3) 1 Hughes' Siberiadrift Hallows Shine JW. B/w, bright keen expression, true foxy head, good front and rear assembly, level topline, well balanced throughout, moved very well with plenty of purpose. 2 Sutton's Vukasin A Song Of Ice And Fire At L. 3 Spruce's Mysticwolf Malcoh. PGB (2) 1 Wright & Wright's Elleonla Silver Star. G/w, good eye and ear placement, correct shoulders, stifle and tail carriage, firm muscletone, slightly heavier built but sound, steady mover. 2 Heaton's Deshkos Sitka Avdyr At Volkaden. Finer built all round, needs more confidence which should improve her movement. A bit more flesh on her bones would improve her overall picture. LB (8, 1) Lovely class in which I found both my bitch ticket winners. 1 Leich, Leich & Koops' Forstal's Kite. C/w, lovely mischievious expression, true foxy headpiece, well laid shoulders echoed by good rear assembly, level topline, correct tail carriage, well balanced all round, presents an excellent profile, good bone and firm muscle. In first class condition, very free, easy mover, covering plenty of ground, handler and dog moving as one. CC and BOB. 2 Addison's Mersothis Mystical Charm. G/w. Another very sound attractive young lady having true sharp foxy expression, front and rear compliment each other, firm, level topline, good bone and muscle, nicely proportioned throughout, excellent movement and condition. Well deserved Res CC. 3 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Tolvi. OB (7, 1) Nice class with some high flyers who today stepped down a notch to the limit class winners. 1 Copeland & Copeland's Liareedon Bang Tidy JW Ir, JCh ShCM. C/w, correct eye and ear placement, keen expression, good shoulders, turn of stifle and tail carriage, good bone and muscletone, nicely balanced, sound free mover, very good condition, contender for the top drawer I think. 2 Cameron's Jacalous Ice Diamond JW. G/w, another young lady with all the essentials for a bright future, lovely expression, firm body, good muscle, presenting an attractive profile, free, easy mover covering plenty of ground. 3 Hughes' Ch Jacalous Keepsake For Siberiadrift JW ShCM. VB (3) All seven years of age. 1 Taylor's Ch Siberiaskye Brite Borealis Of Pelenrise JW ShCM. G/w. True Foxy expression, well placed shoulders, level topline, good tail carriage, nicely put together, moved well with free easy gait. 2 Heaton's Deshka Echo Dyr. Showing a nicely balanced profile, all the essentials ok, good muscletone and condition, moved well for her handler. 3 Bryson's Matanuska Athena Of Inukshuk.

PAIGNTON

Siberian Husky
My thanks to Paignton Committee for the opportunity to judge the breed, in Mr Wildman's stead, whom I hope is well on the mend. Thanks also to Donald & Sue my stewards. A special thank you to the exhibitors for their good sportsmanship over my decisions, and for the opportunity to judge their lovely dogs, given I was not their original choice of judge.
It was a quality entry of very even standard type Siberians, most of whom could switch placings on another day. All were well presented and handled. MPD (4, 2) 1 Morris' Cwnhapus Svargaloka. Six mths old, lovely g/w baby with delightful foxy head, correct eye and ear shape and set. Nicely balanced with moderate bone, correct coat good angulation, movement sound for one so young. 2 Raby's Jacalous Set Fyr To The Reign At Trewonnal. PD (3, 2) 1 Raby's Jacalous Set Fyr To The Reign At Trewonnal. 8 mth old b/w. Good head with correct eye and ear set, correctly proportioned good shoulder placement, appeared a little straight in the pastern. Good turn of stifle, correct coat, moved well for puppy. JD (2) 1 Whatsley's Winter Melody Perfect Trouble. 14 mths b/w, masculine but not coarse, nice arch of neck into level topline, slightly long in the back but held topline on the move, gentle slope of croup, tail set on correctly, lovely foxy brush held correctly, good shoulder placement, moderate bone correct pasterns stifles and hock angles. Correct coat won on his movement which was sound. 2 Simms Red Hot Lover Legend Of The Spirit (Imp). 17 mths r/w, handsome boy, pleasing head, typical Sibe expression, alert cheeky, and gentle, moderate bone, super coat, good angulation, level topline, good tail and carriage. Unfortunately he is very slightly overweight and on the move his mid section rolled, spoiling his overall movement. YD (3) 1 Riaubytem's Demidoff Shake The World. 19 mth old white. Handsome male, masculine, not coarse, pleasing head, correct bone, good coat, level topline gentle slope to croup good tail set and carriage. Balanced and good angulaltion throughout. Correct movement sound in all directions. 2 Rees' Amical Five Star. 21 mths g/w, foxy head, alert happy expression, moderate oval bone, correct depth/width of chest a smidge close coupled. PGD (2) 1 Raby's Zaltana Cruise Control At Trewonnal (Imp) ShCM. Lovely standard size male in good condition, well proportioned giving a balanced profile, would prefer a slightly more refined head. Movement sound in all directions. 2 Heyes & Lunn's Amical Theo. Handsome standard fitting male with much promise super head, correct build and balanced proportions, still maturing, handler needs to work with him more to reach his movement potential. LD (4, 1) 1 Eagles' Pelenrise Brite Encounters JW ShCM. Good head, sweet expression, correct size and build, good angulation, in good condition. Correct coat, correct movement in all directions. 2 Tinker's Esquimaux A Kind Of Magic JW. A favourite of mine, always in good condition. Looks good even in his swim trunks, a sound standard fitting Siberian, movement true in all directions just preferred first head. OD (6, 1) 1 Taylor & Taylor-Morris' Ch Pelenrise Brite Knight JW ShCM. CC & BOB. B/w. Caught my eye immediately. Moderate throughout, of balanced, medium build, in good condition nicely muscled. Lovely fox-like head, expressive, slightly oblique almond eyes, correct set and shape to well furred ears, a keen and cheeky expression, pleasing length and arch of neck into well set shoulders and level topline held on move, gentle slope of croup, super foxy with correct set and carriage. Correct depth of chest and spring of rib. Gentle slope to pasterns, straight parallel hocks, good turn of stifle. Movement true in all directions, free flowing gait showing good reach and drive, I would prefer him shown on a slightly looser lead. Delighted to see him do well in the Group. Placed second in the Working Group. 2 James' Ch Amical Trojan. RCC. G/w. Very hard to choose between first and second. A super top quality young male ticks all the boxes and the above comments all apply to him, today first just owned the ring. MPB (4)
A super class, could have been from the same litter, four very even quality pups could have all swapped places. 1 Whitehead's Jacalous Amazing Grace. BP. 8 mths, and on her third outing already has the eyecatching quality about her. Lovely feminine head, correct ear set, lovely expressive almond oblique eye, gentle but impish. Given age she is nicely balanced and proportioned of moderate bone, good coat lovely tail and set. Moved well in all directions. One to watch. 2 Eagles' La Dam Latea Dark Desire (Imp). Very similar to first, lovely foxy head, moderate build and bone slightly longer in the back. Still very much a baby but promising. PB (6, 2) 1 Whitehead's Jacalous Amazing Grace. 2 Lomax & Wilson's Arcticskies Fallen Angel At Snowglade. G/w, lovely feminine girl, pretty foxy head, standard fitting and movement sound in all directions another promising youngster. JB (6, 1) 1 Rogerson's Siberiadrift Golden Fenix With Nosregor. Very pretty, feminine bitch, balanced throughout and of medium build and moderate bone, lovely arch of neck good shoulder placement reflected in rear angulation, good length of leg, gentle slope to pasterns, strong hocks sufficient curve of stifle. Movement light effortless with good reach and drive. 2 Hughes' Siberiadrift Hallows Shine JW. Litter sister to first and of the same qualities, slightly longer in the waist. YB (1) 1 Crowther's Kobuk Snow Fall. Not the most feminine of heads and a little heavy throughout, however she has a lovely gentle experession with a happy demeanor, good front and rear angulation, correct coat, lovely tail set and carriage. Moved well. PGB (4) 1 Morris' Zaltana Cwnhapus Tegan (Imp) JW ShCM. Pretty feminine girl, cheeky expression, and demeanour, of moderate build and proportions, correct angulation all over a balanced standard fitting girl. Sound on the move in all directions. 2 Raby's Seasight Flying High At Trewonnal (Imp). Much to like about this bitch, feminine but slightly less refined in the head than first. Good movement. LB (10, 5) 1 Whatsley's Hyperborea Tantum Glittering Violet. RCC. Has an eyecatching quality about her, even though I would prefer a slightly more refined head she is non the less feminine with a lovely sweet happy go lucky expression and demeanour. Lovely Almond correct set eyes, well furred ears of correct size and set. Of moderate oval bone of good length and proportions, good angulation fore and aft over all a balanced and nicely proportioned bitch. Correct tail set and carriage In her summer coat but well presented. Sound correct movement in all directions. 2 Lomax & Wilson's Arcticskies True Spirit At Snowglade. Once again much of the above applies to this lovely quality bitch, pushed hard for first but was completely naked and therefore not looking as polished as first. OB (6, 2) 1 Heyes & Rees' Amical Tori. Beautiful top quality bitch, ticks every box in the standard. Super foxy head with expressive oblique almond eyes, well furred ears of correct shape size and set giving balance to the head, graceful arch of neck into well placed shoulders, good depth of chest moderate oval bone, of good length, oval feet, sound topline into gentle slope of croup with correctly set tail and carriage. In excellent condition good working muscle throughout, best of the day. Movement just as it should be, however, handler needs to use the ring space to his advantage, if its there use it, a little more practice with movement speeds to get the best out of her. A very promisng future must await her. 2 Cameron's Jacalous Ice Diamond. Another quality bitch, super outline, moderate bone of good lengths, correct angulation. Balanced standared fitting girl. Would prefer a smidge more refinement to the face but she is none the less feminine, with typical husky expression. I found her marginally wider in the front than first. VB (2, 1) 1 Taylor & Taylor-Morris' Ch Siberiaskye Brite Borealis Of Pelenrise JW ShCM. This young lady is the tops and she knows it! Ive written 100% Siberian in my notes. At 7 years old she is just finishing off, so cheeky and happy thoroughly enjoying her day out and letting every one know about it! Lovely head, eyes and ears well shaped and set, moderated throughout, balanced, correct angulations, super movement, good muscle, totally out of coat.

MPD (5, 2) 1 Morris' Cwnhapus Svargaloka. 6 month old grey. Foxy in head with good width of skull and ears set close together. Correct dentition and bite. Toned all through from forehand to quarters. 3 Manley's Skimarque Alaskan Dream. OB (8) 1 Cameron's Jacalous Ice Diamond. So much to like about this 2 year old girl she just fills the eye in an easy way. Beautifully proportioned head that screams Siberian. Powerful front assembly with correct shoulder placement and straight forelegs. Ample ribbing, clean tuck up and firm muscular back, sloping off at the croup into defined quarters. All knitted together well to produce a real workmanlike Sibe that covers the ground easily with an excellent stride and wastes no energy in the process. Pleased to award her the BCC. 2 Anderson's Amical Liliac at Sabakazure. Another smart bitch with nothing out of place. Clean head planes with correct eye shape and well set ears. Strongly made in forehand with complimentary quarters meant that she had to move as freely and fluently as she did at all times. These two girls for me are what Sibes should be, nothing overdone just everything in moderation as the standard calls for. 3 Simms' One In A Million Legend Of The Spirit At Arcticskies. VB (3, 2) 1 Wickers' Ch Jacalous Nepthys At Icekingdom JW. 10 years young and not showing her age in the slightest. Foxy head, strong and well proportioned. Forehand from the top drawer with good toning. Deep chest, ample spring to ribs. Holds her topline thanks to her exceptionally strong quarters. Strides out with purpose and style. A credit to her owners.

CITY OF BIRMINGHAM

Many thanks to all the exhibitors for giving me such a large and quality entry! I was really impressed with the depth of quality in the larger classes. I could have given out many more green cards but instead often ended up not even placing dogs who are Champions or CC/Res CC winners. It was great to have the opportunity to go over so many lovely Siberians. Even though my top awards went to the Open class dogs and the Veteran bitches I found it really encouraging to see so many very promising youngsters. Compared to my last judging 5 years ago. I was delighted that overall the movement had improved in soundness with the out and back and also there were many more lovely, ground covering and light footed side gaits. VD (3) Lovely quality class, third place was a bit lame today sadly. 1 Sutherland's Icynights Uigeadail. Seven and a half yr old black and white, top height, lovely outline standing, foxy but masculine head. Good earset, strong topline, both standing and on the move. Sound coming and going and covered the ground well. Good condition, well presented and handled. 2 Amphlett & Sym's Eskmara's Fordson. Eight and a half yrs, very well put together boy, slightly stronger in head than first, good earset. Very well angulated both front and rear and true on the move, covered the ground well and kept a very steady topline. A little unsure of the situation but I later discovered this was his first ever show so this was not at all surprising. 3 Sims' Snowspeeder's Jedi Knight. PD (6, 1) 1 Reeves' Amiz Sterna Vittaka At Korsvig. Lovely promising pup, growing in proportion. In good condition. Correct foxy head and good earset. Level topline and excelled on the move, sound as a bell out and back, very light footed and covering the ground well. He is still learning his ringcraft! One to watch for the future. 2 Seward's Elleonia Simply Perfect. Slightly bigger than first all over. Another really promising pup. Lovely head, excellent earset. Strong topline, good croup, tail set and carriage. Very strong behind but just a little loose in front. Showing like a real pro', very well presented and handled. 3 Wakker's Shaytaan's Doctor Watson At Ceannabeinne (Imp). JD (3) 1 Anderson's Shamsky Ee'lahn Oldany At Uriakin. Beautifully presented and handled very well. Attractive masculine, but still fox-like, head. Well angulated front and rear, strong topline. True movement coming and going, from the side covering the ground well but a little jerky in front at the moment. This is because he is a bit steep and short in the upper arm but this could well improve as he matures. In good muscletone. 2 Downey & Last's Azgard Regatta At Snoqualmie. Tall boy, in excellent condition and well handled. A bit stronger in head than first, strong topline but slightly short in the croup. True mover and covered the ground well. Both first and second were slightly upright in the pastern at the moment. 3 Pass & McKay's Arctictrek's Milky Bar Kid. GD (5, 2) 1 Cunningham's Icebex Show Me The Money. Super condition, excellent muscle tone and lovely coat. He has clearly had plenty of exercise! Masculine attractive head and correct earset. Very well balanced outline standing with strong topline, good croup, correct tail set and carriage. True mover coming and going and covering the ground very well from the side. Very attentive to handler. 2 Wakker's Zarchenski Mist A Zeehond At Ceannabeinne. Masculine head and correct ear set. Lovely outline standing, well angulated front and rear, correct tail. Very light footed, covering the ground very well, just moving a little close behind today. In good condition, well presented and handled. 3 Amphlett & Sym's Sybasprinter Buick McKane. PGD (7, 1) 1 Wooliscroft's Zarchenski Endurance. Very close between first and second, lovely head with good ear set. Well arched neck. Well angulated front and rear, strong topline, good croup and tail carriage. Sound coming and going, covering the ground well from the side, light footed. Well handled and in good condition.
2 Biddlecombe's Snoqualmie Solar Tswift At Tsaritsa. Lovely typey fellow. Excellent angulation. Strong topline, good croup and tail set. Covering the ground well from the side, light footed and sound in the rear but a little loose in front today. In lovely condition and well handled. 3 Marvin's Azgard Taiga. LD (12, 1) Wow, what a class. I ended up not placing dogs who I have seen winning well deserved green cards! Thank you for bringing them under me. 1 Winter & Unwin's Nashanessen's Dirty Harry At Snowtrekka JW. Very standard fitting fellow, super foxy head. Good earset, lovely arched neck. Strong topline both standing and on the move. Sound as a bell and very light on his feet. Correct tail set and carriage. In very good condition, well handled. 2 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Glock. Not yet 2 years and still needs to mature further but will for sure gain his title. Masculine head, good earset. Strong topline, excelled in rear drive and front reach, really covering the ground from the side, keeping a very steady topline, sound in the rear but still needs to tighten up a little in the front. Perfect tail set and carriage. In good condition and well handled.
3 Lightfoot's Arctictrek Wotsit All About At Footlite. OD (10, 1) Another very strong class, where worthy green card holders had to go unplaced. Thank you for letting me judge your beautiful dogs. 1 Hannam's Charoite Raven's Brew. There was no chance of overlooking this fellow, he demanded attention as soon as he came in. Very alert and on his toes. Attractive masculine and foxy head, correct ears. Lovely arched neck. Very strong topline, perfect tail. Well angulated at both ends. Excellent muscletone. Absolutely true coming and going and covering the ground with such ease, lots of reach and drive and keeping a perfectly steady topline. Delighted to award him the CC. 2 Foard's Bifrost Merlot. Another top quality dog in super coat and condition. He played up his handler a bit standing but on the move there was no overlooking his qualities. So light footed, ground covering, smooth and holding an absolutely level topline throughout. Completely sound and true coming and going and with great reach and drive. Lovely foxy head and good earset. A worthy Reserve CC and unlucky to meet first on such good form today. 3 Biddlecombe's Korsvigs Cooper At Tsaritsa. VB (9, 1) Wow, what a class to start off with in the bitches. We are so lucky to have a breed where many individuals are in their prime as veterans. 1 Bowering & Evans' Penkhala's Kyra. This was another that demanded attention as soon as she came in. Beautifully foxy feminine head with almond shaped eyes and lovely mischievous expression and very waggy tail, really enjoying herself. Correct earset. Super outline standing, very well angulated. Strong topline and perfect tail set and carriage. Absolutely true on the out and back, really light on her feet, covering the ground very well and with totally smooth topline. In super coat and condition, completely in tune with her handler. Delighted to give her the CC and BOB and was pleased to see her take the Veteran Group 4. 2 Stanier's Arctictreks Daisy Duke. Another lovely typical girl and really enjoying her day out. Medium size. Beautiful foxy head and correct earset. Very well angulated, well proportioned with correct body to leg length. Strong topline, good tail set. Again totally sound on the out and back and super side gait, really fluid and easy. Very unlucky to meet first today, but she well deserved the Reserve CC. 3 Foard's Zima Squirrel At Bifrost. PB (10, 1) Some very promising puppies here. 1 Seward's Elleonia Perfect Dream. Super young lady. Foxy head with excellent earset. Lovely balanced outline standing already, strong topline and correct croup and tail. On the move covering the ground so well and with such ease, very sound and true out and back. Very well handled and presented in good condition. One to watch for the future. BP. 2 Shaw's Norste Kanguyak. Lovely, foxy and refined young lady. Typical feminine head and good earset. Could be criticized for being a touch fine boned right now but this could well improve with maturity. Lovely outline, strong topline, correct croup and good tail. Covering the ground very well with light footed ease, a little loose on the out and back but this will tighten up for sure. Another one to watch. 3 Wooliscroft & Leyland's Shaytann's White Rhino (Imp). JB (7, 3) 1 Sargent's Keriquel Aqualight. Lovely typey youngster, a little unhappy about all the noise in the hall but held her own. Correct outline, well angulated, strong topline and good tail set and carriage. Totally true coming and going and covering the ground very well with good reach and drive. Good muscletone and well handled. 2 McInnes' Hushwing Happy Feet At Inneska. One I have admired from the ringside and another quality young lady. Foxy head and good ear set. Balanced angulation and strong topline, correct tail. Very light footed, ground covering and easy side gait. Just moving a little close behind today. 3 Johns' Alepenkye Special Kay. GB (7, 1) 1 Amphlett & Sym's Sybasprinter Desdemona. Super foxy lady with a lot to like about her. Beautiful outline, very good front and rear angulation, level topline with correct slightly arched loin. Perfect tail. Sound as a bell coming and going and covering the ground very well from the side, light footed. By the challenge she appeared rather bored and for this reason lost out but a real classy lady nonetheless. 2 Ankers' Sybasprinter Cosmic Dancer. Lovely standard fitting girl, foxy feminine head and good ears, eager expression. Well angulated front and rear and correct leg length. Moved very well from all angles, sound and light on her feet. In very good condition and well handled. 3 Bowering & Evans' Penkhala's Natalya. PGB (13, 4) Super class. 1 Winter & Unwin's Snowtrekka Bewitched JW. This was a tough one and very close between first and second. Super outline standing. Well arched neck, good shoulder and rear angulation, strong topline and correct tail. Attractive, foxy head, good earset. Sound as a bell on the move and covering the ground with light footed such ease. In excellent condition, well handled and I feel sure she will gain her title. 2 Biddlecombe's Tsaritsas Tsassou. A really quality girl and many of the same comments apply. She was just a bit unhappy with all the noise from the neighbouring ring and this affected her performance today. Moved very soundly with light footed ease. In lovely condition and sensitively handled. 3 Stanier's Arctictreks Meera's Trouble. LB (10, 1) 1 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Talvi. Super conformation all round and great on the move from all angles. Covering the ground with such ease and completely smooth topline throughout. In lovely coat and condition, good muscle tone. Unlucky to meet so many quality bitches today but will gain her title soon I feel sure. 2 Shaw's Norste Gazelle. Super foxy head and lovely outline standing and on the move, covering the ground very well with light footed ease. Very well angulated and correct leg length. Sadly moving a little close behind today. 3 Downey & Last's Snoqualmie Khione. OB (8, 1) 1 Bowering & Evans' Penkhala's Nakoda. Good head and excellent ear set, lovely arched neck. Good front nd rear angulation, strong topline both standing and on the move. Perfect tail carriage. Absolutely sound coming and going and very light footed, easy side gait, covering plenty of ground. In very good coat and well muscled condition. 2 Stanier's Arctictreks Regal Presence. Super classy lady, lovely foxy head. Good earset. Excellent front and rear angulation. Strong topline, good croup and correct tail. Totally sound on the out and back and covered the ground with ease, light footed. In good coat and condition but not really pulling out all the stops to show herself to her best today! 3 Sargent's Keriquel Meribel. GCB (1) 1 Johns' Rajarani Koko For Alepenkye JW. Super foxy head and good earset, thoroughly enjoying herself today. True movement on the out and back but her topline tends to be a bit dipped standing and on the move. In lovely well muscled condition, good coat and well handled.

RICHMOND

VD (2) 1 Beirne's Ch Penkhalas Nashobah. I have had the pleasure of judging this now very nice veteran on a number of occasions. He has an excellent structure when viewed in profile and a good reach of neck. Strong top line and was shown in excellent coat and condition. Moved with great ease and is completely sound. 2 Evans' Winterdance Dezent Knik At Demoneira. A leggy 9 year old who was at his first show - and both handler and dog made a very good go of it! He had a heightened sense of his surroundings but has a good outline with good angulation front and rear but good hard conditioning would would bring him together and help his movement.
PD (3,1) 1 Jones' Coldfeet's Hero. Two 'leggy' puppies but I preferred the shoulder and patterns of 1 over 2. Nice balance on the move but with all the maturing to come it will be a couple of years before his qualities will really become apparent. 2 Marle's Nosnibor Peter The Great. Head of good proportions, moderate in size, excellent drive from behind on the move and a nice ground covering parallel gait. Very well handled and presented.
JD (1) 1 Whatsley's Winter Melody Perfect Trouble - 16 months old shown in excellent coat and condition. Typical head, moderate angulation front and rear, good top line, correct tail set and carriage. Good all round prospect - well handled and presented.
PGD (2) 1 Sargent's Eversepp's Caspar Bear At Keriquel - Just preferred the shoulder and the slope of croup of 1. When settled he was absolutely parallel throughout and move with ease, but generally he was a little unseated on the day. 2 Lightfoot's Icebex Tolya Of Footlite - Typical head and expression but for me a touch straight in the shoulder and tended to stand 'toeing out'. But good reach of neck and a well held top line.
LD (5) 1 Seward's Elleonia Perfect Chance. DCC. A dog with excellent overall balance and structure, good reach of neck and a strong top line with a good slope of croup. A typical head and expression. Out moved the class. 2 Jones' Coldfeets Limitless - Another with a correct head, this was a medium sized male who was balanced throughout. Correct medium bone, good feet and patterns. Not quite the condition of the winter months! 3 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Glock. Res Biddlecombe's Korsvigs Cooper At Tsaritsa. VHC: Lightfoot's Arctictrek Wotsit All About At Footlite
OD (3,1) 1 Sargent's Arctictreks Airborne At Keriquel. Res Cc. I have admired this chap before. On the day I just felt he was perhaps a touch overweight although this may have been a very full coat and and an inability to work at this time of year. Typical masculine head, strong top line excellent feet and well angled pasterns. Better overall balance than 2. 2 : Unwin and Winter's Nashanessen's Dirty Harry at Snowtrekka JW. A chap I have had the pleasure of seeing on a number of occasions and he was as laid back on this occasion as always! He has a typical head, relatively refined for a male, excellent reach of neck and is quite 'upright' in relative length to height proportions compared to some. Easy 'languid' gait which is absolutely sound.
VB (2) 1 Platt's Rigrunner Candybar In Wightflight. bv. A very nice veteran full of vim and vigour. Refined foxy head, well set ears. Excellent angulation, correct medium bone. Good feet and pasterns and a very light footed ground covering gait.
MPB (5,1) 1 Norman's Skimarque Grace And Favour. BP. Some very nice quality puppies in this class - the future would be bright on this evidence! Excellent feminine head and expression who just managed to stand first in the class on the day. Very well handled and presented, she has very good overall proportions and good angulation front and rear. Strong top line, moved to good effect and was shown in good coat and condition. 2 Bryson's Inukshuk Kunik O'ullaktut -The first of two very similar youngsters who just lacked the practice and presentation of 1 but are both good prospects. Excellent angulation, keen alert feminine expressions, good prospect (s). 3 Bryson's & Inukshuk Tulugaq O'the Stars. Res: Nicholls' Arcticskies Got It Flaunt It
PB (9,1) 1 Norman's Skimarque Grace And Favour. 2 Bryson's Inukshuk Kunik O'ullaktut. 3 Bryson's Inukshuk Tulugaq O'the Stars. Res Robertson-Riley & Mackenzie's Morrowind Mysterious Paws. VHC Marle's Nosnibor Duchess Svetlana
JB (3,1) 1 Sargent's Keriquel Aqualight. BCC and BOB. A high quality youngster who took top honours on the day, something in this breed I am reluctant to do in one so young. But I will be very surprised indeed if she does not fulfil her early promise and she certainly stood out for me. Balanced throughout with a good reach of neck, good top line, correct croup tail set and carriage. Economic ground covering gait when she settled. 2 Shelford's Joy Av Vargevass (Imp). Well balance youngster without quite having the degree of angulation of 1. Correct bone good feet and nice pasterns. Will mature to advantage.
PGB (10,2) 1 Seward's Forstal's Crystal With Elleonia JW. Res CC. Both 1 and 2 were nice examples of the Breed but both totally lacking coat on the day. Just preferred the head of 1. Excellent angulation, long easy parallel gait. Well held top line, good medium bone, nice tail set and carriage. 2 Bowering & Evans's Penkhala's Natalya. Not quite the tightness of 1 but excellent angulation fore and aft. Good reach of neck light easy ground covering gait. 3 Unwin & Winter's Snowtrekka Bewitched JW Res Shelford's Snowtrekka Enchantress. VHC Biddlecombe's Forstals Tsavanti At Tsaritsa
LB (6) 1 Bolsover's Charmedkelz All Seein Angel - Just preferred the head of 1. This is a very typey feminine bitch, with excellent overall proportions. Good bone, lacking coat on the day. Absolutely sound on the move. 2 Barry & Grisbrooke's Azgard Talvi - Very sound bitch with an easy gait. Correct bone, well held top line. Good shoulder and correct turn of stifle. Will be at her best in hard condition. 3 Shelford's Amiz Alana. Res Norman's Skimarque Anna Pavlova VHC Jones & Mihulka's Icynights Too Hot To Handle JW.
OB (4,1) 1 Robinson, & Platt's Rigrunner Jubilee Flypast JW - Shown in good coat and condition, good overall balance, correct croup. Sound on the move. 2 Norman's Skimarque Anna Pavlova - A bitch I have had the pleasure of judging on several occasions and she never disappoints. She has excellent structure and movement but her expression confirms that she is completely indifferent - at best - to her day at the show, which is a great pity! So often she completely out moves her opposition. As always very well handled and presented. 3 Biddlecombe's Tsaritsas Tsassou
