JUDGING SIBERIANS
The SHCGB will maintain a list of Judges it supports to judge the breed for the next 5 years (to Dec 2025), afterwhich it will by superceded by the KC list of judges produced as a result of the implementation of the KC Judges Competency Framework. The list will be submitted to the Kennel Club until that time. Any Secretary is welcome to request a copy of the Club’s current judging list by emailing krys.greenland@googlemail.com

Judging List Applications
The Club will continue to welcome applications from anyone interested in judging the breed until the Judges Education Programme goes live. Details about the Programme can be found on the KC website.
Those wishing to apply to be included on the Club’s judging lists up until the time the Judges Education Programme takes over should complete the New Applicants Questionnaire which can be found by following this link :
In applying to be included on the lists, judges agree to submit a copy of their show critique to the Dog Press and the Club. Critiques should be forwarded by email to Krystyan Greenland using the following email address krys.greenland@googlemail.com
All applications will be presented to the Judges Sub-Committee (JSC) for approval and subsequent inclusion on the list. Addition to the list is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of the JSC.
The Club welcomes applications to be included on the list from any Judge already approved to award CC’S to Siberian Huskies. Addition will be at the discretion of the JSC.
Achievement of the criteria below does NOT mean automatic selection to a list. The quality and performance of judging in addition to overall perceived knowledge and experience when assessing the breed in addition to the applicants interest in the breed will be taken into account.

Judges Updates
Judges who appear on Club Judges list (except A1 list judges) are required to provide an update of their experience and judging numbers to the SHCGB JSC preferably on an annual basis, but as a minimum every 2 years. Current Judging List Criteria
The criteria set out below is the MINIMUM required to be placed on the SHCGB judging lists. Consideration will only be given to those persons who meet and or exceed these requirements. Relevant copies of seminar certification and stewarding records must be supplied with all applications where applicable.
For judges wishing to use the Judges Education Programme (JEP) route, please check the current KC requirements for the various levels. The following criteria will apply for the old style list during the old system/JEP 5 year transition period:
- Anyone who has attended an old style breed seminar or breed appreciation day and has sat and passed the breed standard multiple choice exam (MCE), unless exempt, and fulfils the KC criteria for Level 2 shall be added to the B list if supported by the SHCGB
- The minimum number of dogs required for Level 3 for those following the new JEP shall be as indicated in the current Kennel Club criteria. ‘
A.1 List – for persons who have previously been approved by The Kennel Club to award
Challenge Certificates in the breed and have completed their first appointment. To have the support of The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain.
A.2 List – for persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A.3 List and who have been assessed in accordance with The Kennel Club’s requirements and are accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A.2 List and have the support of The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain.
A.3 List – BREED SPECIALISTS:
1) To have a minimum of seven years’ judging experience in the breed and have the support of
The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain.
2) To have judged at one Club Show or one General Championship Show where Challenge
Certificates were not on offer for the Breed.
3) To have judged the breed at a minimum of five Open Shows with an adequate geographical
spread.
4) To have judged the breed at a minimum of thirty classes in this breed.
5) To have judged a minimum of 70 dogs.
6) To have owned the breed for a minimum of seven years and bred and/or owned a minimum
of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (save in
exceptional circumstances).
7) To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant KC
Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. (Note: The Club’s A3 assessment fulfils this criteria)
8) To have attended a seminar given by a KC accredited trainer and passed the relevant
examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures (Requirements of A Dog Show Judge).
9) To have attended a seminar given by a KC accredited trainer on conformation and
movement.
10) To have attended and passed a Hands-on Assessment delivered by a Kennel Club (Point of A Dog Assessment)
Accredited Trainer and passed the Assessment.
11) To have stewarded at twelve shows.
A3 List – NON-SPECIALISTS:
1) Minimum of seven years’ judging experience in any one breed (to include five years in this
breed) and have the support of The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain.
2) To have judged the Breed at a minimum of five Open or Championship Shows without
Challenge Certificates with an adequate geographical spread.
3) To have judged the breed at a minimum of thirty classes in this breed.
4) To have judged a minimum of 70 dogs in this breed.
5) To have awarded Challenge Certificates in at least one other breed.
6) To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant KC
Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. (Note: The Club’s A3 assessment fulfils this criteria)
7) To have stewarded for a minimum period of three years and at twelve shows.
8) To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs of any breed when they obtained their
first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).
B List – BREED SPECIALISTS:
1) To have a minimum of three years experience owning and exhibiting in this breed and have
the support of The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain.
2) To have judged a minimum of 14 dogs of this breed. Experience and achievement in the
breed will be taken into consideration.
3) To have acted as Ring Steward at, at least one Club Show.
4) To have attended a Breed Judging Seminar within the last three years at which their
knowledge of basic anatomy and the Breed Standard was appraised. (Note: The KC approved MCE fulfils this criteria)
B List – NON-SPECIALISTS:
1) To have judged a minimum of 14 dogs at at least five separate shows.
2) To have attended a Breed Club Seminar within the last three years at which their knowledge
of basic anatomy and the Breed Standard was appraised. (Note the KC approved MCE exam fulfils this criteria)
C List
1) For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of The
SHC of GB.
2) Includes persons who have judged the breed at Limited AND Open Shows but do not yet
qualify for the B Lists.
3) Applicants should have attended a Club Educational event within the preceding three years.
4) Breed Specialists should have owned the Breed for a minimum of three years
Judges Training:
Breed Appreciation Days (the old Breed Seminar)
The Club will aim to run a Breed Appreciation Day each year (usually in October) with multiple choice breed standard exam . It will be run in accordance with KC Guidelines, Rules and Regulations. The aim of these days is to educate individuals interested in the breed, whether they be exhibitors, aspiring judges or breeders and provide them with the information to make informed decisions to preserve and safeguard the breed and to test the candidates knowledge of the Breed Standard via a multiple choice exam.
All assessments are carried out anonymously. All exam successful candidates will receive certificates and certificates of attendance are issued. For further details about future Club Breed Appreciation Days, please email Krystyan Greenland krys.greenland@googlemail.com
