There is lots of great info on the KC website, but here are the nuts and bolts of what you need for each level of the JEP. We are here to help you through this process whether you are a breed specialist or all breed judge. Our commitment to all is fairness, openness and support to deliver quality education.

TO QUALIFY AS A LEVEL 1 JUDGE YOU NEED TO HAVE COMPLETED THE FOLLOWING:

1) Proven interest of a minimum of 5 years proven interest in pedigree dogs

2) Attend a Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar and pass associated exam (either in person or online via the Kennel Club Academy, effective from 1st January 2024)

3) Attend a Kennel Club Confirmation and Movement seminar hosted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer

4) Pass the Points of a Dog Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer (effective from 1st January 2024)

5) Complete a minimum of 2 full days stewarding appointments

YOU ARE NOW AT LEVEL 1  – You may now judge up to 3 classes (4 if one is a puppy class) of any breed at Limited and Open shows.

HOW DO I QUALIFY AS A LEVEL 2 JUDGE?

1) Attend an official Breed Appreciation Day for the breed you want to judge

(Please make sure that you watch the Kennel Club Siberian Husky Breed Video which you will find in your Academy Account when you create it. This film provides pre-learning ahead of attendance at a breed appreciation day and undertaking the breed-specific assessment. It also provides users with an opportunity to update and refresh their knowledge of the breed from a breed expert, as well as document expert knowledge for the future.)

2) Pass the Multiple Choice Breed Standard Exam

3) View ring stewarding seminar and take the online quiz

4) Complete critique writing seminar and take online quiz

(If you are an all breed judge who already award CC’s in another breed, you only have to attend the BAD and pass the MCE for Sibes, unless you judge the working group where the KC recommend you attend the BAD. The Club would highly recommend that anyone wanting support would make every effort to attend a BAD. )

YOU ARE NOW AT LEVEL 2. – You may now judge unlimited number of classes of Siberians at Limited, Open or Non CC Championship shows and AV classes an Best In Show at Limited shows.

HOW DO I QUALIFY AS A LEVEL 3 JUDGE?

1) Undertake 3 mentoring sessions within the breed you want to judge with a minimum of 12 months between the first and third session.

2) Be observed judging a breed club show, breed supported entry show or championship show without CC’s

3) Have achieved the relevant hands on experience in line with the Kennel Club requirements – for Siberians this is 35 dogs

4) Complete 10 remaining full days of stewarding appointments (not required if you already award CC’s in another breed)

5) Have bred and or owned 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book  (except in exceptional circumstances) – not required if you already award CC’s in another breed.

YOU ARE NOW AT LEVEL 3 – You may judge unlimited number if classes of Siberians at Open or non CC Championship shows and AV classes and BIS at Limited shows. 

HOW DO I QUALIFY AS A LEVEL 4 (award CC’s)?

1) Attend  KC Breed Specific Assessment for Siberians run by the Kennel Club.

YOU ARE NOW AT LEVEL 4 – You may award CC’s to Siberians and judge and AV classes, Groups and BIS at Open and Limited shows.
